“There’s truth behind the popular slogan, ‘What’s old is new again,’ as demand for old, outdated or distressed appliances and fixtures is on trend again,” says Vig. “This is particularly evident in the continuing popularity of unpolished brass, which naturally ages over time. These finishes give off an antique, distressed feel, adding to the overall warmth and comfort of a room.”
For a more modern, impactful touch, she recommends pairing distressed fixtures with a bold, saturated cabinet color to balance the visual intensity. Making a kitchen — or any space, your own — is really about finding personal touches that suit your style, no matter what the trends are.
While breaking away from common textures and styles can seem bittersweet, it is also the perfect time to create a space that is more timeless, functional and truly regal. “In general, by 2025 and beyond, kitchens will no longer be just functional. “They are evolving into spaces that are both elegant and functional,” explains Cerminara. “All of these trends are about creating kitchens that feel personal, beautiful and designed for the way people actually live. “
