I’ve already tried on a couple of Walmart clothing items recently, but when they asked me to try on another, I was totally intrigued! Not only did I enjoy shopping the fall collections, but I also saved several pieces to add to my wardrobe and they are my current favorites. If you missed my other two, you can find them here and here . I’ve lost almost 30 pounds so far this year, so my size is currently loose. While some of my clothes have become baggier, I’m going back to my old favorites. However, I need to add a few more pieces to round out my fall and winter wardrobe and I don’t want to spend a lot of money because I expect (hopefully) my size to change. Walmart offers the perfect solution. I can get some stylish and classic options that are also budget-friendly.
As I do with other wear-to-wear experiences, I filmed a video to share on Instagram (attached below) so you can see the clothes I’m wearing and moving around in, and I also took stills from the video so I could share more information about the fit, fabric, and whether or not I’d keep the piece. Of course, all the product links are included as well.
I’m wearing the Levis Pull-on Jeans I wore last time I tried them on, a quilted shirt with puff sleeves, Time & Tru sandy wooden shoes, and a Time & Tru patterned scarf. I love the shirt because it feels like a shirt but has a more polished feel. It has a quilted fabric and puff sleeves that add to the look, but the fabric is soft and comfortable. It’s a blend of fabrics, so I expect it to wash well and not shrink. I was also impressed with the quality and feel of the wooden shoes. I like shoes that I can easily slip on, and these look a lot more stylish than rubber boots or sandals. They come in a variety of colors, even a blue velvet that I’m thinking of purchasing!
I tried this Free Assembly pastel cropped coat over my outfit and wasn’t sure how it would fit me. I actually tried it on in a large and it was a little too loose, so it’s a medium. It’s great quality, and I loved the collar, sleeve detailing, and the pleating at the back. I think it would be great for those with a small waist and prefer shirts that hit at the waist.
I bought this shirt in blue and green, but it comes in many colors and is only $11.98! I wear an XL and it is designed to be loose, but I think I will size down for a more fitted look. I love this shirt because it is lightweight (not too heavy), made of a very soft fabric, and visually looks like a jacket, so it can be dressed up or worn with leggings for walking. I will probably keep the XL for working out and use the larges when I want a more fitted and tailored look.
I already have this ruffled neck shirt in blue and loved it so much that I bought a white one. It’s a little shorter than I like to wear shirts, but I love the neck and sleeve detail that I even wear with sweaters and cardigans. Speaking of sweaters, I wasn’t sure I would love the denim jacket, but this one is great! It has a really flattering fit, the denim is lightweight, and it looks really cute. I have so many things I can wear with it. I’m wearing these mustard knit ballet flats ($21.98).
This denim skirt was a little out of my comfort zone, but I wanted to give it a chance since I was trying on a jacket. It was a little too big for me, so I needed to size down, but I loved the length, fit, and weight of the denim. It also had pockets! I don’t wear skirts very often, but I used to have a denim skirt that I loved and wore for years and this one is similar. What do you think? Should I order it in a smaller size?
Finally, I tried this cotton jacket from Free Assembly, which I loved. It’s comfortable and perfect for fall. I also tried a pair of straight jeans with a slit hem and really wanted to love them, but they were too long for me. I’m under 5’6″, and you can see in the video that if I pulled them up to where the cropped jeans would be, they would look better on me. So, I would recommend this jacket to tall people. It was comfortable and well made, and I thought the slit was a nice touch. But I returned it after that, because it didn’t fit me.
It was an interesting experience to film myself trying on clothes and wonder if I should always do that. Some clothes that I don’t immediately love look better when I see myself in front of the camera! I think it gives me a new perspective and I can judge what really looks good or not without seeing my familiar self in the mirror.
Anyway, here is the video of the experiment…
