I’m so excited to come here today and share the new flooring in Cobb’s big boy’s room!! We’re far from finished in this room, but the flooring has made a big, exciting difference. This room renovation has been a long time coming just like the rest of our house. Last night on Instagram, I shared flooring in a quick video with the sentiment that a cozy home takes time [here] I really hope it helps those who are seeking convenience and who feel like it takes too long or that everyone is faster than them. Your home journey should not be compared to anyone else’s journey because each person’s ultimate goal and requirements are vastly different. As they should be. We all define comfort very differently. What comforts me is that my five senses are at peace at once, just imagine how different our senses really are.
We technically started sharing our home renovation journey 6 years ago when we moved into our old farmhouse, but at the time we really knew with such a big house and such a small budget, we would be making temporary changes like painting the floors, painting the walls and preparing for the big changes we were going to make. Later. The goal at the time: make it comfortable in the middle. We also share our craft projects and creative adventures as part of our work, so there’s an extra layer for us. But about two years ago we started tearing things apart and really getting ready for the big changes we’re currently making. It’s been a long process with many setbacks that have made this feel never-ending at times and I’ve found myself comparing my journey while sharing online and feeling like I’m falling short in comparison when I post progress, but not that great before & then quickly see others doing it and look up to them But read my words above again… I know that rest takes time and all our journeys and seasons of life are so different that there is no comparison and yet I still do it as well. So these words I write here and in all my books and on social media, I need those words and reminders too. you are not alone. We all crave comfort.
We are so excited to share an update on the Cope Room renovation with all of you. As many of you know, Cobb is a dog lover and wanted to transform his room to better reflect his passion. We recently started working on renovating his space with new flooring, paint, and decor pieces centered around his love of dogs. I’ve been collecting pictures of dogs for years now for a large gallery wall and I can’t wait to hang them in this room. The checklist of things we need to do so far has a lot more information about that later.
The process began by installing new flooring from my Dura Decor collection in a warm and inviting brown colour. After much debate, we settled on Farrow & Ball’s Blue Gray paint to provide the perfect neutral backdrop. Touches of Cobb’s personality are sprinkled throughout, such as vintage dog photos, books on different breeds, and other dog-focused accessories.

Although the room is certainly taking shape, this project is still very much a work in progress. For now, I wanted to give you all a glimpse of the progress we’ve made so far. Over the coming weeks and months, we will be adding more custom items and finishing touches. Our goal is to create a space that Cobb feels reflects him while also being a source of inspiration. Be sure to follow along as we continue to transform his room. You can see more of his room’s progress and processes on IG here: @LizMarieGalvan
