This weekend, someone posted that they were selling their “summer cottage 40 minutes from Örebro and 2.5 hours from Stockholm,” which they described as “a true summer paradise with two bedrooms, a large guest cabin, a fireplace, a terrace, a dock at the end of the garden with access to a lake and much more.” “Anyone interested?” they asked. Well, me? Unfortunately it’s quite far from Malmö, but I thought it would be rude not to pass on the message in case you were interested in taking up the offer. Are you ready to dream?
The summer cottage is mostly closed in the winter, as the water is only turned on in the summer. But when summer comes, I can imagine this cottage will be up and running. In Sweden, it is common for people to go and visit friends and family at their cottage for a few days, as it is a way of keeping in touch.
My Swedish father-in-law always says, “Guests are like fish, they start to smell after three days.” This always makes me laugh (of course, we also make sure not to waste time greeting them when we visit!). I guess it depends on the guest and how close you are to them, but whether it’s three days or not, we can all agree that a little personal space is great for everyone!
In this Swedish home, a separate cabin on the grounds has been converted into a gorgeous guest bedroom complete with bed and dining table so you can truly make yourself at home!
And of course, they have a simple but beautiful outdoor shower.
I hope you enjoyed your tour of Julia’s summer paradise!
I noticed some lovely details while browsing through the photos. One of my favourites is a painting of the country house in the kitchen – I wonder if it was painted by one of the owners or perhaps as a gift from one of their guests?
I have a very romantic view of a country house with its own private dock – there’s something about direct access to the water that I love. Maybe it’s the sense of freedom.
Is there anything that caught your eye in this beautiful Swedish summer house? If so, I’d love to hear more below, often these are details or notes that I missed.
Have a great start to the week!
