Every now and then, a house really jumps out at me, and this is one of them. Organic, mature and tranquil, this one-room studio apartment is the perfect oasis in the heart of the Swedish capital – and it even has a cozy balcony filled with autumn flowers to enjoy your morning coffee.
A mix of grainy woods, “unfinished” earthen walls, and rough linen – the apartment may be devoid of bright colours, but it makes up for it with rich textures, all of which help bring the space to life.
So friends, turn on the kettle and relax, there’s plenty to feel inspired in this beautiful Swedish studio apartment!
I forgot to mention in my previous small space post that many Swedish apartment buildings have storage in the basement which is perfect for storing out-of-season items. This one is no different. However, you can see in the last photo that there is quite a lot of space in the wardrobe – and most likely space under the bed for clothes and other pieces as well.
One of the things that really caught my attention in this house were the old headphones. My wonderful father, who sadly passed away two years ago, loved music and spent most of his free time browsing record stores or going to concerts (when he wasn’t transporting us!). He had a huge record collection that all my friends were fans of (his taste was very disappointing with kids). He also had a set of headphones just like this! It’s funny how one item can bring back so many memories. I think it’s still very difficult for me and I think sadly – but a wise friend told me that one day I’ll be able to look back at my memories of my father with a smile and I’m looking forward to that. Sending a big virtual hug to anyone else who has also lost someone special.
Did you notice anything in this apartment that you fell in love with or liked? As always, I’d love to hear your thoughts below!
Wishing you all a happy Wednesday,
Nikki
