These “floating” candles are the perfect touch for Halloween or Christmas!
I found these adorable Harry Potter candles last year and we absolutely fell in love with them. It’s a fun addition to fall and Halloween decor this time of year. (But I think they can be transported to the holidays easily!)
Can you believe I’ve never watched any of the Harry Potter movies? I know! My sister and son often scold me about this fact.
But because our son loves them so much, I got these adorable hanging candles last year. I immediately hung them in our foyer:

We can’t wait to have them back this fall!
I changed the way I hung the candles this year, because the sticky hooks that came with them came off some drywall when I removed them last year:
I even used a hair dryer to try to loosen them, but some of them caused some damage.
Apparently it’s not very noticeable, because I haven’t touched it after a year. 😉
I double knotted the fishing wire around the pin and tightened it as tight as I could. When you press the pin into the ceiling, it holds it securely.
You don’t see the pin at all! I doubt I’ll fill in these gaps later, they’re too small to worry about.
The newer version of these candles is better, because there is a small hook in the “flame” of the candle to pass the fishing wire through. I didn’t have that, so I wrapped fishing line around the flame head instead, which worked well.
Mine got a little stuck because of that, instead of up and down perfectly:
I love it though! Makes it look like it’s floating authentically. 😂
Our drip candle shape looks more realistic – I’ve found that most look clearer.
These Harry Potter-inspired candles take two AA batteries, and last year they lasted for four weeks easily. We play it almost every evening.
The stick is as fun as the candles:
The candles are turned on and off and the tip lights up when the buttons are pressed:
Very fun! What a cute and fun addition to this time of year!
I believe ours are made for indoor use only, but honestly I think they would be good on a covered porch where they wouldn’t be exposed to rain or snow. It would look really cute in those glowing witch hats I made years ago!
The candles are actually very pretty, and I think they would also look pretty during the holidays. I might hang it on the Christmas tree this year.
We love the warm, flickering light in the evening:

Remember to take your batteries out when storing them away for next year.
Are you a big Harry Potter fan? Even if you’ve never seen the movies, these ceiling candles are a fun and whimsical decor touch for the fall season!
