Architect Thomas Maria and designer Anne Botaille are a Belgian husband-and-wife team who have recently dedicated their practice to flipping historic homes. In their designs, the two use only natural and environmentally friendly materials and focus on restoration and renovation. After Anne suffered a serious health scare a few years ago, creating therapeutic environments has also become their primary style
They named their company Maison Osaïn after a Yoruba deity associated with natural remedies, and say their business is “not just about homes; It is a philosophy – a commitment to putting the well-being of residents and the surrounding environment at the forefront.
Their first buy-to-sell experience, House Linaza, is located on one of Antwerp’s oldest streets. Not only did they restore and repair the 1630s structure, they furnished it, designed the tableware and linens, and commissioned art. It has been a successful experiment: the group has been purchased with its entire stock – and the buyer plans to keep everything as is – and has several new projects in the pipeline.
