2025 is shaping up to be an exciting year for home design. With a focus on sustainability, personal expression and innovative materials, this year’s trends are all about creating spaces that feel authentic, functional and unique – qualities we can always get behind!
While the VWS team was founded on the principle of longevity rather than trends that change year after year, it is always inspiring to stay aware of trends in furniture and interior design. Thoughtfully incorporating modern touches, such as a bold piece or accent, can be a great way to update your home without compromising on timeless style.
Here’s what’s taking center stage in furniture and interior design this year:
Sustainable materials
In our opinion, sustainable materials are always in fashion – especially since all of our pieces are made from North American hardwoods which reduce carbon emissions and prevent deforestation. In 2025 and beyond, we expect to see furniture made with an emphasis on reclaimed or recycled materials, low-impact manufacturing processes, and longevity.
Our recommendation: Educate yourself before purchasing. Research brands’ sourcing practices to ensure they align with sustainability values, and learn about local hardwoods in your area.
Bold, vibrant colors

This year, neutrals are expected to give way to bolder colours. Jewel tones like emerald green and sapphire blue, along with earthy orange and deep red, set the mood for 2025.
Our recommendation: Combine these tones using accents like pillows, rugs, or artwork to avoid overwhelming your space.
Curved and organic shapes

Soft curves and organic lines replace sharp edges, bringing a more relaxed, natural feel to the furniture design. Think arched headboards, round coffee tables, and asymmetric sofas that prioritize comfort.
Our recommendation: Mix curved furniture with existing pieces by focusing on balance. Try pairing those soft, rounded shapes with more angular pieces to create a relaxed and elegant vibe.
Multifunctional furniture
As small spaces become more popular, multi-functional pieces are a must. Look for sofas that can also be used as beds, coffee tables with built-in storage, and modular furniture that can adapt to your needs.
Our recommendation: If you’re furnishing a smaller space, assess the needs of the entire space before committing to specific pieces. See if you can multiply the uses of one piece instead of purchasing multiple pieces that serve one purpose for maximum efficiency and space saving.
Mix and match textures

Layering different textures adds depth and interest to your interiors. In our showroom, our team has seen people choose chairs from two different collections to create a whimsical and personal look.
Our recommendation: Experiment with textures by adding blankets, pillows, or rugs before committing to larger pieces of furniture.
