Furniture retail sales decreased during the past month, but were in the annual comparison.
According to the latest data from the National Statistics Office, furniture and retail lighting decreased by 17.1 % to 1.21 billion pounds from 1.46 billion pounds in January. Compared to the previous year, sales increased by 6.1 % from 1.14 billion pounds.

The amount that was spent online, known as “online spending values”, increased by 3.3 % throughout the month to February 2025. Sales values also increased by 3.9 % at the comparison of February 2025 with February 2024. Commenting on the February Retail sales numbers, senior statistics Hanna Vinselbach said: “Retail sales jumped again in February with increases in most sectors. However, after the very strong January, food sales declined this month, especially through supermarkets.
“It was a positive month for home cargo shops with its largest rise since April 2021, driven by sales of the hardware stores. The clothing sales have chosen little, due to the low price of separation on a large scale.
“Given the broader direction, retail sales now show growth over the three and annual period, but remain less than prenatal levels.”
“Despite the gray wet weather, retailers saw a strong boost for their sales in February. It will enhance the foot and pay more consumer spending.
“Although rain clouds may disappear, retailers face 7 billion pounds in new costs in 2025. Moreover, the uncertainty about the draft law of work rights and the reform of new business prices means that retailers are reluctant to invest in new stores and jobs.
