Happy days in Vienna this Christmas season
This year I was lucky to spend some time in Vienna when the Christmas market opened. There were lots of great crafts and holiday decorating ideas but most of them were very traditional and safe. On the other hand, I was inspired by the charming, imperfect decor at Hotel Das Tyrol.
I was very lucky to stay for a few days at Hotel Das Tyrol. And I still can’t forget him! This place is like a delicious dessert – it wraps you in a wonderful and festive mood from head to toe.
Since it was the end of November, the hotel was decorated for the holidays nicely and effortlessly. style? Well, they define it as “a touch of baroque combined with laissez-faire.” This means in plain English – stately but tasteful and carefree.
Beautiful boutique hotel das Tirol
When you stay at Hotel Das Tyrol, you are only a few minutes away from the Museum Quarter, a cultural complex with many notable museums, cafés and small shops. It is designed to appeal to the whole family. If you have young children they’ll enjoy visiting the futuristic and stylish ZOOM Children’s Museum, and if you love art and design, the Leopold Museum is right down your alley. Obviously, I visited the Architecture Museum, which houses displays of the city’s impressive new architectural projects, which are breathtaking. One way or another, I’m sure your family will find something to do there. Of course, there are small shops and places to eat there. For example, for breakfast or lunch, we loved the healthy options at the café inside ZOOM.
It’s also convenient that there are plenty of places to eat around Hotel Das Tyrol. For a memorable dessert, we chose OBERLAA, and if you want a guilt-free place, consider the many casual restaurants on the street.
Hotel Das Tyrol is a small boutique hotel that offers big design.
The reception area flows into the bar area, which in turn flows into the breakfast area. It’s like an open floor plan that makes you feel at home.
Easy holiday decorations for your hotel
Conveniently, there is an elevator for your bags. If you walk up the stairs your sight will be drawn to a row of colorful statues that will make you smile. Climb the stairs again and you’ll notice a shiny decorative mushroom.
Surprisingly, in the bar area, I enjoyed the installation of cats and fish. It’s fun and bright eye candy.
In the bar area, your eyes will keep traveling from one holiday decor combination to another where none of it is traditional.
Adding to the festive holiday decor are displays of hanging figurines perched atop handcrafted vases. I think it’s so refreshing to see holiday decor ideas that are accessible to many people and not just exclusive, high-end purchases. In fact, I’m sure you can find similar tutorials on YouTube. In fact, the entire design is a balance between simplicity and sophistication, extravagance and familiar features loved for a long time.
When you sit down to have a coffee or a drink, you will feel luxurious and comfortable. Red and gold, velvet and mirror, marble and porcelain – you feel like you are inside a fashion magazine. With Atilla Edurjan’s bold artwork on the walls and exquisite tableware, you’ll discover what it means to be pampered.
Our floor was unexpectedly Disney! The bright, energy-injecting persimmon rug color opts for the same fun shades of popular Disney characters. very fun!
By the way, each floor entrance has a different art collection. But somehow it has a common feeling. Because they are all bold, wide-ranging colors no matter how different they are and they still work together.
Festive hotel rooms
Although our room wasn’t very large, it seemed much larger because of the reflective surfaces, such as mirrors, shiny panels, glass, and shiny metal. The comfortable leather headboard, generous drapes, and crisp white linens kept me in bed longer. Were it not for the long-awaited exhibitions in the nearby museum quarters, I would have found every excuse to stay in the room.
But when I finally made it to the Leopold Museum, I was glad I did. The works of Josef Hoffmann and Coloman Moser were displayed as if on purpose to weave the story for me behind the design inspiration for the hotel. The design inspiration comes from the Wiener Werkstätte, a Viennese movement dating back to the beginning of the last century. The exquisite quality of the furniture materials, the hand-stitched leather of the headboards, the gold colours, the velvets and the luscious curtains derive from the level of sophistication of days gone by.
Lighting to highlight the holiday atmosphere
It’s clear that in any hospitality space, the design is only as successful as the lighting decisions. Natural light, ambient lighting, chandeliers, table lamps, spotlights – all lighting becomes the main character. And in Tyrol, lighting solutions are great!
You say, “What about all the comforts we crave when we’re away from home?” I hear you. Whether it’s an Illy coffee maker with coffee pods, a smart TV with Bose speakers, or a well-functioning walk-in shower, I appreciate it all! Did I mention the Dyson hair dryer? Check mark!
Last but not least, there is a beautiful spa in the hotel where you can enjoy a sauna and relax.
Needless to say, my head was spinning from all the luxury and inspiration. I’m now so inspired by new holiday decor ideas! Which I take care of after the trip. You’ll be the first to see what I’m up to. Ah, now I feel like it’s a promise, so don’t miss my next post.
