I want to show you all how easy and affordable crafts are! I really think we overcomplicate it sometimes!!
I picked up these adorable blue spinners from Anything Goes Trading Co. With a project in mind. I thought it would be so much fun to tie ribbon and fabric onto the tops of the spindles to use in my Americana decor, and that’s exactly what we’re doing today!

Let’s get started!!! I decided to leave the spindles exactly as I bought them for this project – so the first step was to cut the ribbon and fabric strips!
The more stripes, the merrier! Give me all the fun colors and patterns!!
Simply take your ribbon or fabric and tie a knot around the top of your spindle! Repeat the process with alternating patterns and colors until your spindle is “full”, which is completely personal preference!
If you don’t have spindles, you can totally do it with sticks! In fact, I’ve used the sticks myself a lot over the years!
The tape/fabric doesn’t have to be the same length either! Just make sure it’s long enough to tie around your spindle (or sticks!). You can always cut it shorter, if necessary.
I ended up cutting some thick ribbon in half, and found this to be much easier!
These little streamers are perfect for taking photos or to use as decoration in a vase! And not just the 4th of July, think Christmas, St. Patrick’s Day, or Valentine’s Day…the possibilities are endless!

what do you think?!? With only 3 supplies and a few minutes of your time, this festive project is hard to beat!!!
This would be so much fun with the kids this summer too! Let them grab some sticks from the yard or go on a little adventure to your local junk store to get some spinners!
You can add as much (or as little) tape as you like!!
