When Re-Fabbed’s Mel and her husband recently purchased the home her in-laws had built over twenty-five years ago, she knew updating the kitchen would be one of the most important parts of the remodeling process. Mel loves to cook (click here For her “famous” chocolate cream pie recipe!) family and friends, so a beautiful and functional kitchen was high on the priority list! They just completed the updates and the result is amazing!!!
Mel and Ronnie knew they didn’t want to spend an arm and a leg on a remodel that would take the kitchen down to the studs. For this reason, they tried to find ways to update that would make a big impact, while keeping the budget in mind!
The majority of the repair budget went toward upgrading the tanks. She wanted to add some height without replacing them, so she had her contractor build additional boxes for the top, then purchased new doors from a local furniture company.
She also chose to build two new cabinets to give her more space for all of her kitchen tools! This pantry cabinet is huge and offers tons of storage space!
They also built this cabinet to use as a serving area. Since she liked the existing solid countertops and wanted to keep them, she was able to find a very close match for this piece!
After installing the new doors, the big project was painting the cabinets. Although Mel had done some painting on cabinets in the past, she decided to hire a painting professional to handle this big project. He removed the doors and sprayed them in his shop. This gave them a very smooth and durable finish! He did a lot of prep work before he used a brush to paint the cabinet frames. If you want to try it yourself, you might want to check it out Brooke mobile home locker change!
After about three months of turmoil, the project was completed!!! Mel is very happy with the result!!
The finish on these cabinets looks like they came from the factory! We love these large knobs bought from Amazon. You can find them here In many size and finish options!
She had wanted to update the floors at some point, but since they were still in good condition, she chose to wait and save some money!
This glass-fronted cabinet is the perfect place to add a little “beauty” to the kitchen and the possibilities are endless!
New lighting, backsplash, and stainless steel appliances completely remodeled the kitchen and gave everything a fresh, new look!
As you can tell, Mel’s design style is mostly neutral, with a few pops of color here and there!
She loves the look of white and greenery!
This cute display piece came from Brooke’s yard sale!!
The breakfast nook is one of Mel’s favorite parts of the kitchen. It’s a bright and cheerful spot, especially in the morning!
She purchased this table through an estate sale of a long-time member of her church. The top was a mess with paint drips and scratches. She refinished just the top, then got these walnut chairs from Target for a perfect match!
Mel is thrilled with how it turned out and can’t wait to host friends and family in her new space! What do you think about updating her kitchen? Let us know!
