Few designers get a balance between elegance and practicality such as Becky Spector. Among the citizens of Texas that described New York Home since 1998, Becky founded the interior design company for full service, Becky Spector, in 2012. With more than a decade of experience, she built a reputation to create spaces not only remarkable aesthetic but very functional. In a recent conversation with resource furniture, Becky shared its visions in the design philosophy, the importance of multiple functional, and why the resource furniture is still the cornerstone of its work.
Practical elegance philosophy

Becky’s design philosophy is rooted in the belief that the shape and function should be inseparable. “I think about how the product appears first and foremost, but also what it feels and continues to use,” she explained. For Becky, comfort and durability are no less important than the visual appeal. This balanced approach is allowed to create spaces that feel invited and practical – a mix that resonates with customers who are looking to make their homes beautiful and live.
Understanding how to use the space is essential to the Becky process. “One of the first questions I ask is” who uses this room and how is it used? “This attention allows her to the needs of the home owner to design solutions that not only cohesion visually, but also designed with the practical facts of daily life.
The role of multi -function design

The long -term Becky relationship with resource furniture reflects its commitment to the multi -function function. The brand’s initial introduction came while designing the Los Angeles Baraka house, which needed to serve as a hall and a guest house. “I found resource furniture by searching on the Internet for the Murphy family,” Becky recalls. “Introduce resource furniture cleaner design and comfortable sofa on the front, which I just need.”
This project was the beginning of partnership with the resources that lasted nearly a decade in homes on both coasts. Recently, Becky has been assigned to convert a small lobby in the apartment of Greenwich to a functional sleep space for two children. the solution? Kali Duo, Murphy Bunk Panel, folding horizontally with an office in the foreground. “It is a genius,” Becky notes. “It was difficult to meet their needs well without this resource product.”
Adaptation to the customer’s needs
Al -Hadary Living is unique design challenges, especially when Square shots are in installments. Becky remembers the Manhattan project, “Half an Inch is concerned.” For this customer, the dining table that converts Goliath – a built -in controller that extends into a six seat – was with pocket folding chairs is the perfect solution. In larger homes, challenges differ, but the focus remains on creating flexible and coherent spaces.
Becky also noticed trends in how people see their living spaces. Urban rents are increasing, and partially defended by transfers from the office to housing, and the rise of work remotely leads to creating new demands for multi -use spaces. “More people see their home as a workplace,” she explained. “These transformations create a need for more intelligent and more efficient living solutions.”
The future of smart living
In the future, Becky believes that the demand for multi -function design increases only. “The rooms in the latest urban buildings are smaller than their ancestors, which creates the need for more thoughtful and effective design solutions,” she says. Products such as the hydraulic storage family, the Ottomans for storage, and their conversion tables have become necessary as homeowners are looking for ways to increase the shape and function to the maximum.
Becky’s advice to those looking to embrace multi -functional design? “It revolves through the resource furniture show or browsing their website. They have smart products that you do not know, and may inspire you in unexpected ways.”
The most important BecKY tips to increase the space to the maximum
Becky Special experience is to create elegant and practical spaces. Below is its most important strategy to achieve the maximum benefit from any space:

1. Choose multi -function furniture
Becky recommends pieces that serve multiple purposes. In the Manhattan apartment, I used a Galot table – a controller stretching to a dining table – with pocket foldable chairs that are easily stored. The tango sofa, a quiri bed with a sofa (appears above), is another favorite to increase the space.
2. Use vertical space
Wall beds, folding offices, and long shelves units for free, with the addition of storage and functionality.
3. Maximize storage
Furniture with built -in storage, such as the Ottomans with hidden compartments and family with lifting mechanisms, keeps the areas arranged without sacrificing a style.
4. Create adaptable workshops
Logical offices, standard sitting and extendable tables allow the spaces to turn easily between work and relaxation.
5. Make it comfortable
The functional spaces should still feel the invitation. Becky recommends choosing sedative materials and studied plannings to maintain comfort and flow.
