Today I’m sharing my kids new shared bedroom which was a huge success! Boy, don’t I miss making bunk beds (I know, I know, you all told me not to go there!). We swapped out our larger guest bedroom for the boys bedroom (they still chose to share ours!) and they are so happy with their new 2 single beds!
From a mom’s perspective, it’s so much easier to make their bed and jump into bed with them to read a book or cuddle! See, bunk beds were great for saving space; You can’t argue with that. But in this new room we can comfortably accommodate two people with space to play, so it makes more sense. I’m also really happy that we reused a lot of things from their old room, just changing out the beds and adding new linens and a new (discounted!) rug.
I’ll share the details of everything in the room below because there’s not enough space on Insta! But let’s talk about these (gifted) Boori beds that are exclusive to Forty Winks and also come in pink and white. It’s a blue and almond Boori Altona in a single bed (also available in a king, double and bunk bed) with matching universal under-bed storage drawers. The quality is honestly excellent and I love the fun and solid design. If you get them, definitely get the drawers. They have a lot of space and I love that they don’t take up the entire length of the bed which makes the room feel more spacious. They also have two “levels” within them.
Most of the decor in this room is from their old room because I don’t like to splurge on a completely new look, and I’ve already made an effort to have a fun, colorful but largely timeless look, so why not a change? This adorable artwork is from Alphaberts for Small Business (it’s on two IKEA picture ledges and also hung on the wall for extra security!) and comes in many different color options. The bunting (come on, I’m English!) is from Castle & Things and the dresser is from Mustard and works well next to the shared bed. The football lamp is new from IKEA and the washable rug is new from Oh Happy Home.
I’ve been wanting one of Oh Happy Home’s washable rugs forever. I love their designs, they are ethically made and they are a small, female owned Australian business. I was lucky enough to get this large piece on a seconds sale and it is so beautiful and soft and great to lie on.
