Nutcracker Christmas Sign…so easy with transfers and banner savings!
Hello beautiful friends!
It’s Trashy Treasures Tuesday and I’m here to share something super fun for the holidays! It was simple (and cheap) to make. My kind of change/decoration.
If you’re new here, some friends and I come together on the second Tuesday of every month to share a brand new change called “Trash to Treasure.” To see their makers be sure to scroll to the bottom after reading my post. Enjoy!
This is what I found at a thrift store…
Cute sign! And you can use it exactly as is. Saving is a win for many reasons.
You can find decor/gifts/furniture for your home without spending a fortune. Plus, you can find things you can fix too!
Like this one!
The paper covering the back was torn in a few places so I removed it all. (See the original price for this? 24.99)
I paid a few dollars for it.
Once the paper was removed, I decided to lightly remove the black letters so they wouldn’t show through the paint. Because I was planning to paint it white and add things from this transfer.
It came out without removing the white background.
So I cleaned it up, taped the frame down to get it ready for painting, and put the nutcrackers out to see how they would be arranged…
Isn’t this very cute??
But then I realized that I don’t need to draw the background!! You couldn’t see where the lettering was and I kind of liked the worn look of the white paint underneath.
Yay! This made this project super simple!
So I started applying the transfers directly on top without painting anything.
As you can see, I cut out snowflakes and stars to add all over the nutcrackers.
It was a lot to move but I absolutely love all the “snow and stars” in and around the Nutcrackers.
I applied one coat of Tough Coat Topcoat in a matte finish to seal and protect the transfer.
What an easy project! I like those types. 😉
I’m not sure where I’m going to put this in my decor because I haven’t decorated it yet. He’s been so busy here that I haven’t been able to reach him yet.
Additionally, I just got back from a long weekend trip with our daughter last weekend. I may share the trip details with you later!
Pin it to save!
