Why did you build this project?
I wanted to create an easy Christmas tree decor using the scrap wood I had on hand. Cedar fence pickets cost only a few dollars if you don’t have any scraps lying around. I also had some scrap 1×3’s on hand, but you can also rip up the fence stakes to attach the back and bottom. Overall, I’m very happy with this project which only took me 30 minutes to create from start to finish. This cute tree adds the perfect festive decor to my countertop! I enjoyed learning how to add some fun decor items from our local craft store. I love that you can use it with a candle or add an ornament to decorate it.

How I built this project
I cut all my pieces according to the cutting list, then sanded each piece and laid it flat.
I added glue to the back 1×3, leaving 3/4 inch for the base overhang.
Then I nailed the back and added the base by nailing the back at the base.
Paint or stain as desired! Christmas decor is easy and simple.
