A super simple Christmas house with simple red, white and green Christmas decor! No fluff or too much stuff this year!
Hello beautiful friends, Merry Christmas and happy holidays to all of you!
I’m very behind this year. I usually post about our house and Christmas decor much earlier, but here we are! Ha! But better late than never, right? Today I’m going to share with you a very simple Christmas decor. Since we’ve been so busy with things, life, and this house (painting, etc.), I decided to do a very simple Christmas this year with our decor. I was kind of headed somewhere rural. I think I achieved it!
I’m actually surprised at how much I enjoyed it. I think my husband and son wouldn’t mind too much either. 😉 My son would love all the “fluff” but he’s grown so I don’t have to do it every year anymore, right? Very funny
Anyway, I thought I’d share it with you. Plus some pictures of our decorated balcony as well. (And a peek at our new paint again and the curtains in place)
It wouldn’t be complete without some pictures of our favorite pups too!
We’ll start with the balcony.
I adore these little trees. I got one set and quickly went back for two. Fortunately, they still had some of it when I did.
You can find it here. (It is in stock as of this writing)
I used little timed fairy lights on all of them during the night.
You can find those here. (In stock and 30% discount)
You can find our doormats here.
They look so beautiful on either side of the door. Especially at night.
The new shutters look great and I finally nailed the color perfectly. Yay!
We have plans for the front basement brick area. I’ll share when we do.
Do you remember this table?? (see here)
Red ceramic Christmas tree from Walmart.
These pillows have seen a vacation or 10. Haha! They have faded a bit but I still love them. (The other one says “fun”)
The lantern came from Kroger, believe it or not. The lanterns I found here.
Piper and Ryder say come on friends!
I bought two new rugs this year, one for the hallway and one for the kitchen.
You can find it here. (shows 2 in stock)
And Mr. Sassy Santa is here where he has been for the past few years. My favorite place for him.
I just love him.
Please don’t bother with the “no cutting” around our door below. We are redoing the decorative treatment around the foyer that we put in years ago. It’s beautiful but we wanted it to fit better with the rest of the house which is clapboard/board and paneling. So once we do that we’ll add the trim back around the door. Never a dull moment here. Very funny
I still love our new lighting fixtures though. It fits perfectly with our decor and is very unique. You can find it here.
(And our painted ceiling too… read about that here)
Look at that cute little face peeking out from the corner. She’s my little shadow, for sure.
I didn’t do much in the kitchen, just the rug, mirror and window. (Plus red and white kitchen towels too)
I love the edge to all the Christmas cards we get though. It’s a great way to display it.
Simple and with a heart decoration I made last year with my dad. It stays there all year round.
I like to see windows through the window. Haha I can’t wait until our extra room is finished there.
I still love this little Santa calendar figurine I found at a thrift store years ago. He always sits here. There was one day (I can’t remember the day but it was right before Christmas) that the number blocks didn’t work, haha, but I still loved it! (And probably why someone got rid of it, lol)
Looking into the “morning room” from the kitchen.
It’s going through some transformations, too. But do you see the tree? It’s new this year. I decided to go with “Unclustered” this year.
I love this tree, it’s heavy but very realistic. (You can find it here)
There are no decorations (just a star on top). This is one of the biggest things I did differently to keep it simple this year. (Plus, I don’t put all my other decor away) Kind of a rustic winter “lodge”, right? No fur or fluff.
You may also notice that we kept the same sofa but got rid of the white covers. We already had these tan ones, so wear them for a change here.
We did this trim around the room years ago when this was a dining room. That’s changed too. It doesn’t really fit the room…or our house.
We haven’t fully determined exactly what we’re doing, but it’s likely that there’s some sort of scrolling and dark color on the walls and/or ceiling. We’re going for a completely different vibe in this room but still keeping it flowing with the rest of the house/decor since it’s an open floor plan now.
And a new carpet in these wonderful colors…
Which I adore! You can find it here.
It was so easy to plan, I did it completely myself in less than ten minutes.
We also got a new leather chair. It swivels and is very comfortable. I found it at Home Sense.
It’s time to move away from all-white furniture. The ottoman looks exactly like the one in our living room. This was in our son’s room and he doesn’t really use it anymore, so we put it here for now. It’s a storage ottoman, which is cute.
You can find it here.
Oh, and a cute little wooden side table that I found in Burlington for $59 I think.
This fun Christmas tree pillow came from Costco this year.
The café got a little Christmas flair, too.
The dining room is built in…the sign I made years ago.
Dining table centerpiece with my favorite birthday who we’ve probably had almost our entire marriage. I found it early in those days.
Hey you…
…I told you she was my shadow. She won’t let me out of her sight!
The laundry has a red carpet too.
I hung the new Nutcracker sign I painted there.
Christmas towels, green swag, and fairy lights in the tiny half bath.
And a Santa sign I made using a napkin a year or two ago.
I still love the peel and stick wallpaper here…and it’s holding up great! Read all about it here
The living room features simple Christmas touches like greenery, red and white pillows, and red and white throws.
And cute Christmas puppies too! (I didn’t plan it… I turned around and Piper went to lie down next to Ryder… so cute!)
This is really Piper’s favorite place. She likes to look out the window. (And barking at people, fun times ha!)
This was a fun tray. You can read all about it here.
I think the Joy pillow was from Costco last year. They have such great pillows every year.
I bought a different tree here this year but the lights went out after a couple of days. Boo.
So I pulled this unassembled tree out of garage storage and used it here instead. The tree collar can be found here.
I got new red and white stockings to go with the “Simple Christmas” theme this year.
You can find them here and here (the puppies, shaped like a dog bone but hard to spot in the hanging photo).
Don’t forget, if you are one of the followers here, you can download these TV screensavers for your TV. (Found in the printable library)
I love the clean look of the trees with just the lights and stars.
Along with touches of red, white and green throughout.
The weight has actually been toned down this year to keep it simple. Not only that, it looks much less “messy.”
I like it.
Piper says thanks for coming to visit!
Wishing you a very Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and a Happy New Year, my dear friends!
xoxo
