I always get excited when I showcase a kolonistuga (custom Swedish cottage), but this tiny house is especially exciting! Why? Custom huts are very seasonal. Since the water is usually shut off to avoid pipes freezing in cold weather, it is rare to see one decorated for Christmas.
Located in the heart of Gothenburg, this small country house is owned by Elin Lannsjö. She loves to stay here all year round. You may recognize the white lodge from a summer feature from 2015. Now, I’m excited to share a tour of Elin’s cottage that has simple, beautiful festive touches, complete with a roaring fire.
Outside, snow covers the ground, while inside, the glow of candlelight makes the house feel warm and inviting. Touches of greenery – pine branches, amaryllis and lilies – add to the cozy Christmas atmosphere.
Are you ready to step inside and enjoy the magic of Christmas in Eileen’s cozy cabin?
Very comfortable! A real little winter getaway in the heart of the city.
Perfect inspiration for the first Sunday of Advent (when everyone in Sweden traditionally starts decorating their homes, although I’ve noticed that many can’t resist actually starting just to brighten up the winter darkness!).
Is there anything that catches your eye about this cozy Eileen sweater?
Before I wrap up the weekend, why not grab a blanket and enjoy a few more cabin rides:
Have a nice weekend friends. Thank you so much for stopping by, I’ve loved reading all your emails and comments, and I’m so glad you enjoyed the tours this week (and the chairs in my dining room!).
Dear Store!
