The one thing I loved most about being a Girl Scout was the hands-on crafts and activities. There was something magical about being able to make art and crafts, and making a craft was special. Life is hard, and I wanted to bring back that feeling of fun and creativity. That feeling of being a kid and just making things. I decided to hold an adult studio arts summer camp. It is a collection of 11 independent workshops that you can take part in one or a few of. We were just featured on WGN News and you can see more in the video in this post. The projects are for all skill levels and at the end of each workshop you will receive a badge (sticker)!
Grown Up Art Summer Camp is intended for ages 18 and up and features projects you may have first encountered in a camp setting. Wood burning, fabric, clay, macramé and watercolor. But all these projects have their own touch. They are projects that you can use as an adult in your home or give as a gift. All materials are provided at the cost of the workshop. If you don’t live close enough to participate in an online workshop, be sure to register on our platform to attend the online workshops, and you’ll be the first to know when the online workshops launch! Here’s a look at the lineup of in-person workshops!
Workshops for adult summer arts camp
Starting June 8th, we’ll be using toy blocks to create a unique print project!
Then we’ll enjoy the nostalgia of catching fireflies when we make a pressed flower jar using decoupage.
On June 15th, we will be making a string-wrapped bowl/basket.
Then on June 19, we’re painting fun wooden signs that can be customized.
On June 22, we’ll be bringing out our wood burning tools and making one-of-a-kind cutting boards.
And create a beautiful art series on June 26.
At Adult Summer Arts Camp on June 29, we will be making keychains out of macrame. I have an outside coach for this, and here’s why.
As we head into July, on July 6th, we’ll be doing a fun weaving project on old badminton rackets for funky weaving and creativity!
And of course, what summer camp arts and crafts program would be complete without a clay project where we make fun pots? If you love playing with clay, see how we made this fun clay bird wall hanging.
Saturday, July 20, we will dive into watercolor painting with a beautiful jar of wildflowers. Drawing flowers is very fun and relaxing. It’s easy to paint hydrangeas with acrylics! See how here.
On July 24, we will be making camp memories with painted wooden picture frames.
I remember learning embroidery when I was a Girl Scout, so of course we will be teaching it at our summer camp!
I hope you’ll join us for our first Adult Studio Art Summer Camp and have fun creating with us! Find out more or register here.
