Faux pumpkins have come a long way in the past few years, haven’t they? Some of them look so realistic that you can’t even tell if they’re real or not. That makes the dilemma of telling real pumpkins from fake pumpkins even more difficult for me. When I started blogging thirteen years ago, I was all for fresh, real decor, especially around the holidays, but now I’m mixing things up. The convenience of walking into a basement or shed when the season comes is so tempting. Yes, there’s a higher upfront cost, but not by much. I’m sure I’m breaking some kind of aesthetic law, but when they look this realistic, who cares?
I still love the experience of going to a farm on a crisp fall day and picking out the most beautiful pumpkins to add to my front porch in the fall. There’s nothing quite like putting on a warm sweater and boots with a cup of something warm in hand and enjoying the colors and textures. It’s the best of both worlds. If you missed last year’s fall tour, you can find it here.
I can say that I have managed to grow some seeds myself. I usually just throw them out into my garden to see what will grow next year, but I think I will harvest the seeds the “right” way this year. This year, I have cheesy squash growing in my humble garden, and I hope to harvest a decent amount. Stay tuned for more!
For me, fall is always associated with cozy textures, moody colors, moods, and certain fall decor elements like pumpkins.
